Agnosticism

Definition

Agnosticism refers to the statement that the existence of deity, and possibly other religious or metaphysical concepts, is unknown or unknowable. An agnostic person does not think the existence of a god can be known.

Notes

  1. This term is often used to refer to someone who is undecided about their religious views. However this is not the definition used on this website.
  2. Many people now consider themselves agnostic atheists. They assert that they do not believe there is a god, and do not believe we can know.
  3. The definition makes no claims about whether we will be able to know the state of existence of any gods at some point in the future. At it’s minimum definition, agnosticism refers to the inability to know if gods exist in the present moment.
