Religion

Religion refers to the belief in a god, deity, or similar supernatural being.

Notes

  1. Some people like to extend the definition of religion, to a passionate belief in anything. However this is an over-generalisation, and could be used to call anyone religious, regardless of their philosophical viewpoint. For more information see the article archives.
  2. The term can also be used to describe the institutions, groups, or societies that subscribe to a belief system as defined above.
  3. Many people would also consider religion to include a collection of traditions, rituals, art and culture. The definition above is the absolute minimum for religion.
