Taking God Out Of Religion
I always see it as a shame, that in the modern world, instead of churches we build nightclubs, and instead of cathedrals we build football stadiums. As much as I dislike religion, I do still appreciate the art, music, literature, and in this case architecture, that it inspires. Perhaps it could be added to the list [...]
Should We Vote For Religious Politicians?
In recent years, the personal life and opinions of leading politicians has become increasingly important to many voters. I’ve never liked this trend. Many seem to think that unless a politician is married, they can’t possibly understand what it’s like and so can’t possibly meet the needs of married couples. In response to this, most [...]
Intuition, Causality, and Quantum Physics
One of the most popular arguments for the existence of a creator, is that the universe could not have happened of its own accord. The universe required some simpler, enduring object to create it. This is one of the favourites of our enemy William Lane Craig. It is perhaps one of the stronger arguments, simply [...]
Should Religion Be Tolerated?
It is the stance of new atheism, that religion should in some way be actively opposed. Different people take that statement to different degrees of how much one should criticise it. I would go as far as saying that religion should always be challenged; it should always be rigorously scrutinised and its many flaws pointed [...]
William Lane Craig Debates Peter Slezak
The first part of the series can be found via the link below: William Lane Craig Debates Peter Slezak – Part 1 As usual, when Craig steps to the podium, he blurs the definitions of everything he talks about in a way that’s almost convincing, were it not for the fact that we’ve heard all [...]
The Fundamental Misunderstanding Of Atheism
It is highly apparent, when trawling through the videos on the internet, that there is one common underlying factor that is present in almost all debates, interviews, and outbursts on the subject of atheism. The religious often use certain words in either very different, or very vague manners to those who are more questioning of [...]
Excellent Video Series: A Debate Between Frank Turek and Christopher Hitchens
Is Christianity Under Attack From Atheism?
Yes. But obviously different people will try to read into this title in different ways, so here’s the way in which the answer to this question is yes. If religion didn’t exist, atheism wouldn’t exist either, or rather, nobody would know that it existed. If religion didn’t exist, everyone would by default be atheist. Atheism [...]
New Link Categories
We’ve decided to split our links into two categories: the optimism-crushingly stupid and the inspiringly intelligent. We wanted to be able to link to the websites of idiots to provide a bit of entertainment for readers, but didn’t want to put them in the same category as the good websites. If you know any hilariously [...]
Isn’t Atheism A Religion Too?
The answer to this question is entirely dependent on the definitions that one uses for atheism and religion. As more and more people think about the possible existence of deities and whether they can even know their state of existence, a broader spectrum of opinions is emerging. An increased number of fine distinctions are being [...]
Can Science Give Us Answers To Moral Questions – Moral Maze
On this week’s Moral Maze on BBC Radio 4 the discussion turns to whether science can provide answers to moral questions. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b011jv8m/Moral_Maze_Science_and_morality/ The more astute readers (as this is an atheist site, that should probably be just, readers) will notice that there’s a problem with the above sentence. The definitions don’t work properly to make [...]
Is Doctor Who Criticising Religion?
Yesterday’s Doctor Who episode showed religious characters in a bad light. The program has done this previously but to an unnoticeable and insignificant extent. We encounter the characters of the Headless Monks, who yes, don’t have heads. Another character says their name comes from that “They believe the domain of faith is the heart, and [...]

The convention boasts some high profile speakers, including the world’s most prominent atheist Professor Richard Dawkins. They will be speaking on a range of topics including “Communicating Atheism”, “Religion: accommodate or confront?” and “Building Secular Coalitions”. Also on the agenda is [...]

Christian Doctor Tells Patient That Faith Could Cure Him
A Christian GP has been given a written warning for suggesting to a patient that his faith could help cure him. The General Medical Council said Dr Richard Scott risked bringing his profession into disrepute by discussing his religion. He further discusses the issue with Nicky Campbell on Radio 5 Live: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b011cnkt/5_live_Breakfast_Your_Call_Religion_and_Medicine/ We have also [...]
